Bedtime Story

On one fine Thursday morning in HKL at the visitors waiting place where there are chairs outside the wards.

Suddenly heard bird sounds near the trash bin.

Me, "What's that???" Looks at Ruhil. Ruhil, "It's a bird stuck in the trash bin!"

Me, gasping, "Omg! Kesian it! We have to free it before it suffocates and dies in there!"

Me and Ruhil looking at each other. None of us brave enough to open up the trash bin to look inside and save the helpless bird.

Me and Ruhil sees Vicki and Ong walking out of the ward. Me, screaming, "Vicki! Ong! There's a bird stuck in the trash bin! Please come and save it!"

Vicki and Ong stares blankly at us. Vicki speaks, "Huh? A bird?"

Me, already frantic thinking of every second the bird is struggling to breathe in between the garbage its buried in, "Yes! Listen to that! It's a bird stuck in there! Open the trash bin and save it, quick!"

Vicki walks cautiously towards the trash bin. Listens carefully. Bird sounds still persists. He kicks the trash bin. Bird sound stops. Vicki cautiously opens up the trash bin lid and peeks in.

"I don't see anything. There's no bird in here."

Me, oh-so-convinced there's a dying bird in there. "It is in there! It stopped making sounds when you kicked the trash bin!"

Vicki backs away from the trash bin. "There's no bird in there!"

"There is so!"

Ong steps in. He opens the whole trash bin lid and looks into the trash bin for a very long time while me and Vicki kept on arguing whether or not there was a helpless, dying, suffocating bird crying for help stuck in there.

All the HO's and nurses and visitors and hospital staffs eyeing us suspiciously as they hurriedly scurried passed us, thinking we were escapees from the psychiatric ward.

Ong finally closes the trash bin lid and peers out through the window above the trash bin.

"The bird is outside the window laaaaaaaaaaaaah."
